4.5 ⭐️
i am kind of shocked at how much i enjoyed this? the story was so good and James and Wendy's chemistry is insaneeeee! the boston accent the narrators attempted was a bit meh but otherwise the narration was really good too.

there was only one part of the storyline that i found a bit silly/hard to believe but overall this was a great book!

I really wanted to love Hooked, especially with the unique premise of a Peter Pan retelling, but I have to admit the execution didn’t fully meet my expectations. The concept of reimagining these classic characters in a darker, more adult light was so promising, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.
The smut in the book? 5/5 hands down. It was steamy and intense, and I definitely enjoyed that part of the story. The chemistry between the characters was undeniable, and the tension between Hook and Wendy was electric... at least, until the end.
Here’s where things went off the rails for me: the twist that Jon is revealed to be half-siblings with both Wendy and Hook. To me, this felt incredibly wrong and a bit uncomfortable. Wouldn't that technically make them all related in some way? I understand the twist was meant to be shocking, but for me, it just felt out of place and unnecessary. It seriously detracted from my overall enjoyment of the book, and unfortunately, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
While the book had a lot of potential, especially with the dark twists on familiar characters, that final reveal really ruined it for me. I’m all for bold choices in retellings, but this one just didn’t sit right. Would I recommend it? Maybe, if you’re a fan of intense, steamy romance and can overlook some of the more awkward plot twist. But for me, it fell short of my expectations in the end.
