Oh my gosh, I would have LOVED this as a teen. A fun world with lots of emotion.
If you are going to read the Harbinger series please read this first! I was informed that I could read it first before reading this series and I don’t recommend doing so. So much of this series is spoilt in the Harbinger series.
Enjoyed the book and I’m glad I decided to go back and read this one before the third book in the Harbinger series is released.
I hate how everyone babies Layla thinking it’s protecting her, when they are smothering her.
I’m surprised at how annoyed I was by Zayne. I thought he’d have a bigger role, but he kind of was over shadowed by Roth, not that I’m complaining.
I don’t like when books make references to pop culture. We had a few in this book. It’s just a personal thing for me that always makes me cringe a bit.

I picked this up from the library because I wanted easy reading romance that I could lose myself in for the weekend. This hit the mark, but stayed firmly in that territory. It's a classic love triangle set up: special girl, bad boy, like-a-brother-but-hot boy. There's a background story of apocalyptic proportions, but the story is much more interested in who special girl will kiss. I'm not gonna lie, I'm going to read the rest of the series and happily jump onto team bad boy (he has a demon snake named Bambi. How could I not be on his team?) but I would recommend a lot of other books before this one, including this same author's Lux series.

Questo libro l'ho letto nel momento perfetto! Avevo bisogno di una lettura leggera, coinvolgente ma poco impegnativa e Caldo come il fuoco è perfettamente riuscito nell'obbiettivo. La storia è semplice e già sentita, ma la simpatia dei personaggi e lo stile di scrittura ironico e scorrevole compensano le mancanze della trama. Ho apprezzato la tematica del bene vs male, non banalizzata ma affrontata in maniera approfondita, anche se didascalica. Ho sentito vividamente di essere fuori target mentre lo leggevo, per questo, almeno per il momento, non proseguirò con la trilogia.

Gah! Zayne. ..no,Roth. Roth .definitely team Roth.lol. Really enjoyed this book.... JLA writes 17 year old angst like she's living it.
