Ich habe es bis in den Himmel geschafft, aber nach dieser Hölle möchte ich nicht weiterlesen. Immer wenn ich das Buch zur Hand nehme nervt es nur noch. Der Autor schreibt dieses Buch sehr vorhersehbar - immer wenn ein kurzes Rätsel aufgeworfen wird, wird es gleich wieder gelöst. Die Schreibweise ist zwar sehr beeindruckend, aber für mich unglaublich anstrengend. Auch die Gesänge laut zu lesen hat mir persönlich leider nicht geholfen.
Es ist eine Aneinanderreihung von Dantes Glauben und historischen Personen. Mir ist es auch schleierhaft wie auch nur irgendjemand die berühmten Ringe der Hölle aus diesem Buch herauslesen konnte.

I am very glad I’ve read this, though I can see why Inferno gets the most attention out of the three — it’s entertaining and the closest to a plot we have. But I think Purgatorio and Paradiso, when combined, are worth the extra cantos and allow us to see Dante as more than a narrator of what he witnesses.

I'm not sure if this counts as 1 book or 3 books.
Either way, I'm not a big fan of reading poetry it turns out. I'm very glad that this version came with an extensive collection of notes after each Canto so that I didn't miss any of the finer historical, mythological, or theological points being made (which I would have it expected to pull it from the poetry without context). I did find a lot of Dante's points pretty thought provoking however.
Lastly though, this took forever to read. Inferno started out with a fairly quick pace but then a sudden change around the 6th Circle caused the entire collection to be horribly slowed. Had the original pace been kept it would have been more bearable to read.
Anybody interested in getting an in-depth theological view of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory would be good to read this but otherwise I don't recommend. #SelfTaughtReligion #SelfTaughtHistory #books
