the bigger pains of grief are less to do with its broader implications and more to do with the smaller parts of having known and loved; with the pieces of themselves that your loved ones leave you, so intrinsic to the make of your soul that you only realize they’re not entirely yours until those who writ them there are finally gone.

I had/have so much anxiety for the grief I will feel when my loved ones die but it almost felt reassuring to read that it’s definitely going to be worse than I expect, if that makes sense???
