T.L. Swan is a master at balancing the tough, emotional moments with the lighter, funnier ones in her books. This is something that I really appreciate about her writing and she didn't disappoint in this latest book either. Henley, the main character, carries the weight of his past with him every single day like a shadow. It's extremely difficult for him to break free from his old habits and move on. Although he's a good man, he often finds himself too scared to act or say the right thing, which makes it hard for his new neighbor to get closer to him. She's a hopeless romantic and wears her heart on her sleeve. While she was occasionally irritating to me, overall I found her to be a major contributor to Henley's healing process.
One of the most heartwarming parts of the book is the relationship between Henley and his father. It's a tearjerker and my heart ached for them both. The book delivers a valuable message that you have to take care of yourself first in order to be a better version of yourself and to be an equal partner to someone else.
While there were a few scenes that felt repetitive or unnecessary, they didn't detract from the story.
I'm already excited for the next book in the series, especially Blake's story. He's funny, protective, and a huge womanizer, so I know it's going to be a wild ride. Although we don't know much about Antony, from what I've seen, he's definitely more than meets the eye. Liam is also an interesting character, and I can already envision his storyline. In fact, I've even paired him with a lady in my mind. I can't wait to see where the author takes the other characters as well. If you're a fan of romantic comedies that give you all the feels, then I highly recommend this book.
Themes to expect:
- grumpy/sunshine
- second chance
- enemies with benefits to lovers
- POV: dual
- secret relationship
- dirty talk
- forced proximity
- romcom
Quotes:
“ It’s as if my body was always his, as if he was always meant to be mine. He has this special ingredient. Every whispered word, every touch means so much more than it should. ”
“All I want to do is see her, to hold her in my arms and tell her that I missed her.”

The FMC was annoying to me. Her and her friends. I don't think she went through much character development. The MMC was set up to. I felt it was a little rushed. Forced proximity love story. 2 5 or 3 spice bars depending on how out of the box you are.
I usually love Tee’s work, but this one just didn’t have the same magic for me. I started it months ago and just picked it up again to finish. I felt like there was a lack of plot and that it was rushed to be finished. I actually didn’t find myself in love with the main characters and didn’t care if they ended up together.

DNF at 49%. IDK why I keep doing this to myself. This is the third TL Swan book I haven't finished, and the only book of hers that I did finish, I only did because I was invested in the side plot.
Both characters in this book are so immature and I can't see what they like about each other's personalities. The chick is so desperate, at least the dude is up front about what he wants even though he's such an alpha-hole.
I won't be trying another TL Swan book, they all contain the same type of characters that make me cringe.
