I listened to this one on audible and enjoyed it a lot. It was a pretty quick listen to or I had a lot of time driving.

šŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļø this story started out with a great premise and setting. The rest of it I really felt was whiplash. The plot is chaotic because the main characters both have a lot of bagged but also are in a toxic relationship and the dialogue doesn't feel representative of the right age range. By the end I was mostly invested in knowing what happens but even in the last 10% I couldn't have imagined so much "wtf" moments just happen and resolve themselves. I also felt like we didn't get to see enough resolution on the Jenny drama I really just wanted that character to disappear and not be a final "aha" key moment to Henly figuring out he truly loves Juliet.

I had really higher expectations of this story, not really satisfied unfortunately.

Henley and Juliet’s story had all the elements I’m use to seeing in TL’s books. There was miscommunication and all the angst, but it was also funny and charming. Henley and Juliet had a natural chemistry and it was hot. Was he a douche 100%, was he redeemable also yes. I had fun and got frustrated with them! I would have like more of a storyline with his PA, the end with her felt rushed and abrupt. But I’m really loving this cul-de-sac!

The realest part of this book is when Joel told Juliette that Henley was treating her like his favorite toy that someone else wanted to take away bc that was too true.
Yes Henley went to therapy (he should’ve went to that grief camp worked on himself then came back to get Juliette) which is great he redeemed himself kind of but he still sucked and Juliette let him walk her like a dog.
Like pls girl stand up..
Also I swear all they did was have sex.. where was the conversations, the dates, activities hell what happened to her ā€œhouse renovationā€ she painted one room and that’s all we got.
Idk this book had a cute beginning but flopped imo

I am wonderfully overwhelmed

So on the one hand, great story, fantastic spice , and absolutely love not just the main characters but the friends as well. I love a meddling older woman so much.

Then there’s the other where FMC got on my nerves a bit but I’d say majority of her concerns were solidly valid. I didn’t expect to get a lesson on grief and and have been reminded that I need to get a therapist because a lot of the things the Henly does, I do too. So rude.

The audio was pretty phenomenal!! The inner commentary before the outward conversation’s killed me everytime.

good read

I enjoyed the story but I feel like it ended abruptly. There was so much angst and back and forth with the characters that I feel like the ending was lackluster. Just missing something. Reading about them working through what they needed to and the other stories that can come from the other characters was good though.
