C'est bon, ma déception du tome précédent est réparée. Sûrement mon préféré avec le second tome, les nouveaux personnages m'ont consolée du fait que ceux des livres précédents disparaissent.
Je trouve juste étrange qu'Anne soit une petite femme au foyer conservatrice mais la poésie parfaitement mièvre des récits fait passer le tout. Je vais me retenir de m'écœurer en lisant le reste trop vite mais c'est dur !

Like a broken record I think "sweet and charming". Anne and Gilbert really take second fiddle here though -- it's all about Leslie, Dick, Owen, Captain Jim, Miss Cornelia, and other small characters (like Joy and Jem!). Tragedy and sweetness and romance and life. And my favorite quote "it doesn't take long to stay an hour"

I had thoughts about this book but I lost them somewhere in my telly-filled days of rest after catching covid. Which is a pity and a testament to how much the gogglebox can rot one’s brain, my brain at least.
Anne’s House of Dreams by L.M. Montgomery is the fifth book in her series and this installment focuses on the wedding and honeymoon period of Anne and Gilbert. It was all very pretty, as expected of Montgomery, and there was a good helping of storylines that veered a little into soap opera. Still, it was largely a breezy read that once again, reminded me to stop and appreciate the beauty in all the little things around me.
I appreciated the slightly more mature plot lines in this book, with childbirth and difficult marriages being introduced. However, a lot of the emotional growth that I would expect from these experiences were glossed over in favour of romance and friendship. I’m not complaining, because I guess that’s what we’re here for, though it did feel a little jarring that certain things which I thought could be expanded on were not. Anyhow, I still will be picking up the next book, because soapy or not, there is a kind of wholesome escapism that this series offers.
