Oh, this epic was such a delight despite the harsh themes that it deals with. I’m a glutton for all things mythology and this was such an unique blend of Greek and West African mythology, discussing not only the abuse of women under the patriarchy but also the downsides of fame, the conflict of loving the product of abuse, the sacrifices of a mother and the power that female solidarity provides.

Gripping story that won’t leave me for a while. The rage of Modupe left an aftertaste in my tongue.

The writing is beautiful and Inua Ellams narrates his own story perfectly!

I wolfed this one down. It reads like a poem. As an avid fan of mythology, this was a cross over I didn't know I needed. The mesh of Nigerian and Greek gods was exquisite. My favorite character, Modupe, what a woman- beautiful, strong, and committed to justice to the end. Just a beautiful work of art. 🤌🏾🤌🏾
