Ignatius wakes up from a night of drinking to find horns growing from his head. People start telling him their worst impulses, and with a touch he can see the worst thing they’ve ever done. The plot behind this is so cool… but for me, it just didn’t pan out. At the end, I was just confused and annoyed.

I enjoyed this story but at times it dragged for me - not sure why - but I was interested enough to want to know how things turned out -
Pretty weird story... It's lucky that I am a kind reviewer or I would have given it less stars.
The characters were really sick, the story was difficult to read and painfully developed. I had no idea why anyone did anything. I felt like while I was reading the whole book was a metaphor for something deep and profound - but it kind of went over my head.
That being said - I finished the book and watched the movie with good old Daniel Radcliffe most certainly not playing Harry Potter (also what was up with that ending? - valid for both the film and the book).
So, weird story, but the premise was cool and the book did manage to keep me hooked throughout so it can't have been that bad. But once I finished I realised that I had no idea what the hell just happened (haha see what I did there?).
Give it a go if you enjoy horror, long winded metaphors, LOTS of violence and morally crippled characters.
Happy reading!

P.S. Ooh my first negative review! Exciting. ;)

A pretty solid horror/morality tale that eventually fails to deliver in what I've come to think of Joe Hill fashion. Like his previous novel, Heart-shaped Box, this ends in an unsatisfying payoff which isn't as nihilistic as much modern horror but is still disappointing in its apparent message.

I hated this book the first time I read it. However this time around I really enjoyed it, altho' it really is not the most uplifting of books. I don't know if my change in attitude is down to age, or the quality of things of been reading lately.
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. It also ended well, but I felt like the middle was dragging at times. However, I read it in a day, so it must have kept my attention pretty well!
I am surprised by how much I loved the ending. This was a far better book than I expected.
