Enjoyable
Slightly different take on alien romance as they are both alien to a new planet.
Fairly low angst
Fast burn

This was a good book!

I say that first so you are not turned away by the fact that I only rated it 3-stars. There's nothing wrong with this book. It's got good spice, it's got enemies-to-lovers, and it's got hot aliens. Grammar and mechanics wise, I only ran into one little tiny blip, and it didn't slow me down or ruin anything for me. This was a good book, with a good plot, and I don't regret my time here.

The three stars is just because... it wasn't for me. It actually took me a long time to finish this book, because I had too easy a time putting it down. But again, there's nothing wrong with this book! (Sorry, just want to stress that.) It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I won't be continuing the series. But for anyone looking for a relatively quick, spicy read involving an alien race, enemies-to-lovers, and some force proximity, and cute little munk-cat... I do definitely recommend this book.

This is my first book by this author and it got me hooked! I love the enemies to lovers trope, and here it was done so, so well. The story gave me the feels, it was an emotional ride and I loved that! Now, excuse me as I go get possessed by the alien prince ;)

Enemies to lovers - arranged marriage style

Deirdre was just the right mix of fierce and compassionate and Storr had all the grouchiness that she needed to balance. They had chemistry galore and what turned into a tender relationship. They had every reason to hate each other, but the survival scenario they were pushed into forced them to work through stuff. Both characters had moving backstories. I quite liked the world building as well.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: grief, parent loss, severe illness, pandemic (off page), violence, gore, war (off page), near drowning, injury

I was initially intimidated by the premise of this story (I don’t love humans as the bad guys) HOWEVER the author does an excellent job of “balancing the scales” early on and all is not what it appears! I loved the “formal” nature of the varoolians, it was so fun to watch the MMC be continuously challenged by Deirdre and I’m excited for where the series is going next
