Here is a hint that a story is forgettable: when I can't remember the title to a book less than 24 hours after finishing it. Or the heroine's name. What is sad is that I have actually loved several of Ms. Stuart's other stories. I will just have to remember that this author is a strong hit-or-miss with me.
For a better summation, read Isis FG's review. With the exception that I read the entire story, this reviewer wrote what I thought. And I couldn't have said it any better.

Anne Stuart continues her reign as the queen of romantic suspense. She writes Alpha heroes better than anyone, and she's not afraid to delve into controversial subject matter. Her characters are not cookie-cutter by any means; they're fully realized people who feel so real, I almost expected them to walk off the page. COLD AS ICE features a wonderful, believable love story between two strong people perfect for each other. I'm looking forward to the next book in this unforgettable series. (A+)
