The setting is as Weimar Republic as it can be without being set in 1930s Germany. With a dash of ...somethingpunk. Not quite cyberpunk, but it has robots and bio-engineering. Very unusual, very cool. 
The plot takes a bit to get going, but when it does it escalates quickly.
