Part of a series apparently (Although from the book itself you would never know it!) called The Cat Club it is anthropomorphic tales of cats and their tails getting up to various careers and lifestyles one would not expect from a cat. There is something ironic about a cat being a firefighter in that so many books are about cats being rescued by fire fighters! (Why? Who knows?) Anyway entertaining read about this cat in this very easy little read for learners of reading.

The Fire Cat by Esther Averill is one of the Cat Club books. Pickles is a stray cat who lives outside Mrs. Goodkind's home. She wants to adopt him but he doesn't want to stay indoors. She quickly realizes that he is a cat destined for big things.

When I was growing up this book made me happier than just about any other. Yeah, it's a childrens book, but it is still a sweet story and something I will be buying for and reading to my own future children. I am not someone that pretends that every book has to be some amazing thought provoking marvel. I think people that ARE that way are jerks. I am 24 now and I could still read this silly little story and smile and remember how much I loved it as a child. That is better than anything in the world.
