I think it’s worth a re read one day. Definitely a specific vibe, and heavy on the emotions. But to make up for it, it is also refreshingly short for the kind of novel it is, and switches to less depth when it feels like too much. I think if I have excess emotions one day, reading this would be a good cathartic move.

This book tries very hard to be quirky, and thus only really succeeds in creating annoying, pretentious characters. If you have a particularly sensitive aversion for the manic pixie dream girl archetype, I would simply look elsewhere for your next read.

This book was really hard for me to read.
The plot in the beginning was very interesting. It gave a different take on the concept of being in-between life and death. However, I came into this with the expectation that I would be reading a fantastical paranormal romance. Instead, it was more meant to make you think. What about? I’m not certain.
The concept just missed the mark for me but I wholeheartedly believe that it was my own fault due to my expectations coming in. I’ve read in multiple reviews that the author is an acquired taste. Give it a chance and perhaps it’ll cater to yours. Unfortunately, I cannot say it caters to mine.
