The ending to this series was...fine. Weirdly it felt like it suffered from middle book syndrome despite being a final book, but a good chunk of the first part of the book was just moving people to certain places to get certain things and nothing really happened. Just some info that was important, a lot that wasn't and some miscellaneous info (what the nations crests looked like?! How was this important?!)

Thankfully, we only got one description of Rudjek's obsidian eyes in this, so I'll give that a pass. I'm still not on-board with the romance, but I believe the author has fallen into that trap that a lot of YA authors do which is thinking that romance is just SOOOOOOOO important to teens. (Spoiler, it is but not at inopportune moments).

Still a solid 3-star series, but the first will always be a favorite.

More like 3.25-3.5… It was a decent ending, but there were sections where it dragged because of the immense amount of detail about characters who never even spoke. This is a common issue for me when there’s such a sprawling world. Sometimes it works well, and other times it just doesn’t land for me. I know other people love it, though, so I’d definitely recommend to those folks!

I need it to be noted that I am not necessarily into YA at the moment, nor did I remember what happened during book 2. But if you binge read this series, I could see it being a higher rating.

In all, I just think we had a childish “bad guy” and the “good guys” were too good in my opinion. It was just a lot of back and forth and the big battle sucked. I just wasn’t into this as much as I thought I would be as a finale book.
