This third installment in the Penderwicks series was also better, I thought, than the first. This makes both sequels better than the first book - a very rare occurrence. I was delighted to spend another few hundred pages with Skye, Jane, Batty, and Jeffrey (and Hound too, of course).

4 ★ - (really liked it)

I teared up over this. Alec and Jeffrey my hearttt. Skye figuring out how to be in charge was quite amusing. As an eldest and relating to Rosalind, watching her realize how much we truly do XD And good ol' romantic Jane. We love her. And Aunt Claire!! She sort of remind me of my Aunt Kat :) BUT JEFFREY AND ALEC.

Spoiler "In two strides, he reached him, pulling Jeffrey up and hugging him, hugging him, hugging so fiercely that he would never let go."
crying

CWs: mentions of blood, injuries, divorce, wanting to make voodoo dolls (they don't), yoga, brief kissing, "sacrifices" to "firegods", grief

Another beautiful addition to the series. A prediction: while the whole series is about the family, you can reduce book 1 to be mainly about the family, book 2 to be focused on Rosalind, and this book to be focused on Skye. Therefore, I predict that book 4 will focus on Jane and book 5 on Batty. The coming of age adventures continue, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

My favorite one yet....

Maybe my favourite Penderwick book?!!! Love Clare, Alex and Turan in this book and that Jeffery was back! You missed Rosalind's presences but i thought I would have liked it less than I did because of that. Skye as OAP was funny and felt like she had some great character development in this book.

This starts out - much like the others - in a fairly leisurely fashion, and at some point, I was starting to get a little..... bored. And then the twist (unbelievable though it may be) came, and the emotional aftermath of that hit me right in the feels, and I had to figure out where spend a stolen 15 minutes to finish the book right away!! And now the slow-paced build-up in the first half or so is totally forgiven. :)

I just love getting to know these characters more as they grow up!
