The writing was very good and I enjoyed reading it. The only issue I had was that—maybe due to my unfamiliarity with historicals—I didn’t feel like Simon was very “bratty.” Oliver was the one being rude and causing scenes and I kind of wish the tables had turned on him, haha.

It's really very entertaining -- so much so that it's tempting to jump into some other historicals immediately even though I must get some other stuff off my plate first, dammit! -- but Oliver is SUCH an ass!!! And that first-time scene is SUPER questionable!!! And then bingbangboom we're through :) Still, no regrets. Give it a try if the blurb appeals and you're looking for a shortie

Pleasant little free story about two grumpy, misunderstood people finding each other.

A brat, and a bastard, and spanking. . .

Arrrggghhh! This was so good, but too short - way too short. I gonna need more Sir Oliver, Simon and those puppies, Lisa Henry.

The ending is a bit rushed for my taste, but it was a very enjoyable read overall.

OMG I hated Oliver for pretty much the whole book. And then all of a sudden having sex turns him into not-an-asshole. Doesn't seem very realistic.

Lisa Henry is hit or miss for me. Sorry, but this novella was a huge miss.

There was absolutely no progression from enemies to lovers to make the romance believable for me. I didn't interpret a sexual buildup or any sexual tension between the MCs. What I felt was Sir Oliver's embarrassment and frustration with Simon causing him to criticize and humiliate the boy. And when the sex came about with the spanking at 90% mark, I didn't see where Simon's passion exploded from. Ms. Henry definitely described Sir Oliver's sexual interest as almost being clinical or even bored, even during the spanking. Sorry, but didn't buy into them becoming lovers.
