Absolutely amazing. The push and pull between Auren trying to placate Midas while also standing up to him and secretly rebelling was so satisfying to watch. Her growth in this book was compelling. The climax was so PAINFUL and suspensful that I stayed up late just to finish it. What a satisfying book. My favorite of the trio.

Aurip's relationship really encompassed everything I want in a romance. The fierce loyalty, respect, and passion they share was spot on. His encouragement and support for her when she was feeling the lingering effects of trauma was lovely. Juxtaposed with Midas getting worse and worse, and Auren finally realizing the full extent of how badly he treated her - masterfully done!

My ONLY critique is that the author often uses "male" instead of "man", which made the writing feel jilted at times (and wasn't something I noticed as much in the previous books). But like, it's fine.

CWs:
non consensual drugging and torture.

Each book just gets better. Firstly, the slow burn of #Aurip pays off … UNFFFF. There is one scene that though I saw it coming was very hard to read. I have to see how it plays out from here. The political intrigue is thickening, I used to hate Malina’s POV but I appreciated it this time around. Can’t believe I’m going to have to wait for the next (final?) book in this dark horse of a series. Til then!

This is a guilty pleasure of a book for sure. I'm so glad that Auren finally saw past King Midas and was able to start looking out for herself. The plot was a bit slow at first, but then it picked up and it just did not let up. This is probably my favorite one of the series, but the second book is close. Such a huge cliffhanger! From what I'm aware, the author will release the fourth and final later this year though.

We see Auren's character develop so much as well as her romance to Slade. I really enjoyed reading this. To anybody planning to read this series, PLEASE check the TWs. I added a couple in this review as well.
