MY CONE AND ONLY
by Susannah Nix
Narrated by Chris Brinkley and Amanda Stribling

Oh my! This book is a wonderful listen! It's my first listen by Susannah Nix and I am hooked! Meet Andie & Wyatt. Both have had a crush on each other, but with Andie's brother being Wyatt's best friend, no feelings were ever expressed. Now Andie is in trouble. Her house may be taken by none other than Wyatt's dad, and he isn't going to let it happen. Will they be able to resist each other now they are together so much? Secrets, fears, love, jealousy, swoony music, we have it all in this flirty, passionate romance. Nix mixes the best friend's sister, forbidden love trope with our friends to lovers romance with just the right amount of angst, romance and humor. And can I say Nix writes the best song lyrics? This is just the first book in the King Family series, and after getting a taste of this family, I can't wait to get to know them all better!

Chris Brinkley and Amanda Stribling are a fantastic pairing. The accents, the emotions, and the passion perfectly executed, sucking me in and making me fall for this couple. Brinkley is swoon worthy as Wyatt. He has an easiness in his narration that makes him sound like your best friend. Stribling comes in with Andie, emotionally charged, knowing what she wants and gives us it all to us with her expressions and inflections. A wonderful storytelling team, and I would love to hear these two together again!

I enjoyed Andie and Wyatt’s forbidden romance. Andie is Wyatt’s best friend, Josh’s little sister so naturally it goes against bro code to date her. However since age 17 they have both been secretly in love with each other.

I love any book that deals with any kind of home repair or construction, so the fact that this story has HandyMan Wyatt helping Andie fix up her house was an added bonus for me. That also lead to forced proximity and causing the two of them to finally admit to their feelings.

It’s clear that Wyatt needed Andie to help balance him out and give him purpose. I didn’t love how he treated Andie during the beginning of their relationship but I think most of that is the fault of George King who is just a turd to everyone especially his children. Wyatt and Andie worked out their troubles and it was great that they finally got their HEA after 10 years of denying themselves. Now off to Tanner and Lucy!

(It also appears every Susannah Nix book I read makes me realize I should have started reading her books ages ago. I have added all of the Chemistry Lessons books to my TBR because I need to eventually read about Josh and Mia!)

This was a cute, but pretty average rom-com.

It's a cute, friends to lover / brother's best friend romance with a good amount of steam and angst but the hero is a bit immature for thirty.
