There’s just something about the “I was wrong about you” trope that I love so much. It worked in the beginning but it also got kinda lost along the way during the other romance tropes.

The middle parts of this book really made me fall asleep and forget what’s happening. For me that’s pretty indicative of poor pacing and poorly written side characters. I found myself not really caring about Liz’s friends. I did care a lot about Wes though because he was funny, sweet, and the best parts of this book included him. I also really enjoyed Liz’s relationship with grief. It’s especially powerful given that Lynn Painter lost her dad before this book was published.

The ending was a lot better than the middle parts, and while I didn’t rate this book with five stars like I did for Lynn Painter’s “The Do-Over,” it was a pretty decent read overall.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this little romance lived up to the hype. It’s a very cheesy and clean romance (which I typically like) At this point in book culture, this seems like a must-read in the YA Romance genre, and it’s a good entry to just get a feel for Lynn Painter’s writing style. It’s definitely worth your time and does a great job at combining tropes while keeping the overall mood of the book happy.

Overall: 3.75⭐️, rounded to 4 for good reads.
