I can't quite pinpoint what makes me not love this book as much as the previous ones? At first I thought maybe it was just the character perspective but objectively there is nothing wrong or (that) different about Milo, she's a great character and I loved him in the previous book and really enjoyed getting his POV. I thought maybe it was that we spend less time in stories but I dont know i don't think that's it either - I don't really have a reason as to why this book is 4 when the rest were 5 it just was.

Emotional Abuse - Milo's uncle Horatio is dismissive and distant with him, always doubting his abilities. Later several people including Milo chalk this up to Horatio protecting him but I don't know about that. Death - as mentioned before there js reference to a dead parent. The book concerns two family members being poisoned and Milo's remaining family are presumed dead. Racism - this has a very brief mention - Milo notes that his trips to older books can be more difficuly due to his skin colour. Hope this helps
