A well researched and thorough inspection of the Resistance in Italy and the small part played within it by Primo Levi. Is this thrilling? Not really - it reads, to me, more like a college text; readable but not propulsive. I think a reader would be well served by approaching this as research for his or her further forays into the literature of WWII - this gives you a solid foundation for those spy novels on your "to-read" list.

I received an ecopy from the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
