Internal monologue too lengthy and boring, plot not going anywhere. Main character is mildly annoying as well.

the book started off on a great; i absolutely couldn't put it down for the first 15%.

...and then it lulled. for a really long time.

to the extent to which it wouldn't be an overstatement to say more than half of this book was unnecessary. the ending (which was chef's kiss) and the starting just barely makes up for it though, so 3 stars.

This book was really long, I think some scenes was unnecessary. But I really enjoyed it!! Lots of plot twists towards the end that makes me go

This one took me a while to get through and I'm noticing the same issues that I had with the previous book.

First off apparently this is a 6 book series ans for the life of my I don't understand why. These books are thicc. Not twilight thicc but regardless the audiobook is like 20+ hours.

Throughout the book I had to hear the same jokesand how poppy is soooo special and amazing and how strong she is in Casteel's eyes.

All the meanwhile we get a shit ton of information of her bloodline that constantly changes that at this point? am I even comprehending the lore???? Probably not.

I love the characters and I especially love the banter between everyone, but this book had so much filler scenes and same dialogue that it felt like it took forever to get to the main point.

I'll read the next one but again I don't understand why it's 6 books lonnnggg ugh.

I don't know why I keep expecting the books to get better but I always end up disappointed. This installment suffers from the same weird pacing as the others - slow meandering chapters where characters walk around on horses for like 3/4 of the book with the final few chapters packed with action and a shameless cliffhanger at the end.
I'd say the book is about as good as the others but have knocked it down to 2 because even the positives like the romance started to get grating at this point. Also the main character Poppy is becoming too powerful - to the point where you wonder how she hasn't achieved anything yet.
Might keep reading the series but honestly don't know if I can be bothered.
