This is not as good as the first book– I waited so long for this to come out, but by the time it did, it just seemed a little cheesy and not as cool as the spy-feel of the 1st book.

Still, it's an interesting read that had a cool plot and used cool characters; it just didn't follow the awesome, fun track set by the first book.

This series is basically like breathing in nostalgia. It was one of my favourite series as a kid and of course, the second instalment does not disappoint.

I love how Lauren Child lays out so many breadcrumbs in such an expert way to ultimately bring the story to an amazingly written crescendo.

I give this book 3.5 stars as the person I am now, but my younger self who read this for the first time would have probably given it close to 5.

I remember enjoying this, despite misremembering some plot points. I loved how the legend played out and intergrated into the plot, a very well done and original idea (or maybe I'm just a nerd that likes biology).

A great sequel. This was always one of my favourite Ruby Redfort books - I always loved the way the plot came together, the personal history and mythology and the foreshadowing all the way through. As a read-through, I was just waiting for the moments when everything came together.

I mean, I did need a light read, but with this I felt like there was no climax, no direction the plot was going whatsoever. I hope the third one is better.

Nevertheless, I recommend this book, to everyone - children, because it is for children, teenagers - because sometimes you just need to relax, mate, adults - because I feel like if my parents sometimes read a book like this, they'd maybe even try to be nicer to themselves, really (but that's just family drama, don't worry 'bout it).
