Sure, there was some silliness and some issues with credibility, but this was a fun spin on the Snow White within the Regency Romance genre. Really enjoyable. I'd read another of Charis Michaels' books.

Thanks to Avon Books for the ARC of this novel!

This is my first time reading a historical romance and I loved it! I am not picky when it comes to historical accuracy and look for enjoyment first and foremost. It was fun and an amazing start to reading these type of romance books

Historical romance Snow White and the Huntsman? But the main character isn’t Snow White, just a girl with an apple orchard trying to get out of her arranged marriage? I’m here for it.

2.5? 3 stars?

I almost DNF’d this like, twice? But I think I can totally say that I just wasn’t the reader for this one. It has good writing and such an interesting plot (a retelling of Snow White of sorts?), but either I was distracted or I just couldn’t get behind these characters. I’m already not a big fan of insta-love, so when our main couple’s relationship came out of nowhere, I almost gave up. Also, how convenient was that ending?

ANYWAY, I wouldn’t knock this one all the way down and I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

This was super cute! I liked the elements of Snow White that got thrown in, although I will admit that there were a couple of times where I got a little eye-rolly because the elements/retelling were strong.

Helena was interesting and while the situation wasn't the best, I thought some of her ways to try and get out were actually kind of entertaining. I did think the whole "find another duchess" plot was a little cheesy, especially the nicknames she gave everyone (more of the elements being so very strong). It was funny how quickly she fell for Declan and didn't bother to deny or fight it, just went full steam ahead, even though he was kind of being stubborn. I did worry we'd have a bad third act breakup, but that didn't happen thankfully.

Declan was great. I laughed because he was in love with her from the word go and it was just so funny watching him try to pass it off as having just gotten out of Newgate or her seeing it as an adventure. I did find myself wanting a little more on him/his background as a mercenary though.

Charis Michaels decided to give the secondary characters of fairy tales their happily ever afters. In this book the Huntsman from Snow White gets his HEA.

There were some fun touches from the fairy tale that Michaels put her own spin on. I also liked how she integrated the seven dwarves. It was whimsical and on point.

Unfortunately, I was not invested in the romance and the regency aspect of the story. Both felt a bit surface level, but it was still a fun and unique read.

THE COVER IS GORGEOUS!!! If you're looking for a fun bodyguard romance look no further. This was a cozy read, and I am excited for the next one in the series.
