This book read like a first draft. Like the bones of the plot were solid but the execution was shaky. Also, there were a number of grammatical choices that bothered me. For example, contractions were used inconsistently throughout the book making the conversation sound stilted and awkward. I can understand the ESL characters not using contractions, because it draws attention to the fact that their first language is Russian. But if you have English speakers not using contractions, the conversation quickly becomes overly formal. Also, the FMC often calls her brother “brother” which seemed weird. We know the characters are siblings and are often reminded of this fact in the exposition. We don’t need additional reminders in the dialogue.

RTC but i’m pretty sure that this book is going to have a chokehold on my reading taste for a long time to come because this book is pretty much the definition of everything I want in a book. The damaged main character who is suffering and the lovely other main character who helps them through their pain is the superior trope for me and I absolutely adored how it was done in this one. This book was just so romantic, it made me swoon so much because the romance was just perfect to me.

This book was just the book for me and I enjoyed it, so much.

I received an arc of this book, and this is my honest opinion

This story is dark but it’s so damn good. Alexei had a traumatic and disturbing childhood at the hands of a monster. His life is complicated and lonely. Now he’s paired up with a badass FBI agent tasked with stopping a monster and sparks fly when they get together. Alexei doesn’t feel things. He stopped a long time ago to protect himself from the horrors he lived. But Aurora makes him feel things. This is an opposites-attract on the surface but it turns out these two are very much alike. Aurora has demons of her own, having escaped the horrible fate that took her brother. She doesn’t remember it at first, but she has a past with Alexei and he knows all about it.

They’re on a dangerous mission but the heat between them can’t be ignored. I loved everything about their story – seeing him come alive and watching them both be redeemed by their love for one another.

Alexi is the fourth book in the Belles & Mobster series. This book is about Alexi and Aurora and is told from both of their points of view. I really enjoyed seeing Alexi in the past books, but I really loved getting to know him in his own book.

Aurora is part of the FBI, and Alexi is on the opposite side being in the Mafia. When Aurora is forced to work with Alexi things are about to heat up!

I loved the banter between Alexi and Aurora. There were quite a few things that I wasn't expecting, and was pleasantly surprised.

Can Alexi and Aurora work together? When their working together is over, will they still have feelings for each other? Or will their feelings keep developing stronger? Will they get their happy ending?

I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to see where this series leads us next. I also really liked the narrators that were used for this audiobook. They really brought the story to life.

I’m completely obsessed with this Belle’s & Mobsters series. The characters are dynamic and engaging and the storylines are filled with drama and emotion. Alexei has always been portrayed as silent and elusive and I’ve been curious about his journey. His story shattered me. Alexei survived a horrific past and even though he views himself as damaged, he has so many other layers. Aurora is his perfect match. She fierce and determined and she bows to no one. I felt a deep connection to both Alexei and Aurora and there were several moments where I wanted to climb inside of the story and unleash my own kind of vengeance.
