They say there is nothing like a woman scorned and that is very true in this case. Following in the footsteps of her mother, Ann Rule, Leslie Rule takes a look at the murder of Cari Farver and the cruelty of the woman who killed her.

Liz meets David and decides that she wants him for herself even though he made it clear that he was not looking for a relationship. When David starts seeing Cari Farver, Liz hits a new level of psycho. Not only does she take Cari's life - she proceeds to torture those who loved her as a way of making Cari seem crazy and leaves her mother, Nancy, wondering if her daughter is alive.

Leslie Rule did a decent job telling the story although I found it lagging at times. While Leslie has written books on other topics, there is a little bit more she could learn about telling a true crime story.

If you’re a fan of true crime, then I highly suggest you stop what you’re doing and pick up this book. A Tangled Web was an incredible story that took you deep into the world of cyberstalking and the manipulation and twisted actions that go into it. I enjoyed this book so much and can’t wait for Leslie Rule to bring us more true crime stories.

The Story: The story itself was absolutely mind-blowing. It was unbelievable to think that someone would be able to manipulate and dupe so many people, including investigators and detectives! The book was never boring and jumped from one insane event to the next. Leslie Rule did an incredible job of taking us on a chronological journey through what would be a treacherous three or so years for Dave Kroup and Cari Farver’s family. I was amazed at how long Shanna was able to keep up this charade for so long!

The Flow: I love the way Leslie Rule set up this book in a chronological order with some small steps into the history of certain characters. It was nice to get background information on key people in the story so we could get a little more insight into who they were as people. The book flowed seamlessly from one event to the next.

The Characters: Since these aren’t made up characters, I can’t really comment on the author’s creation of them. However, the presentation of the characters was executed well and I think we had enough information on everyone to feel like we knew them and the part they played in the story.

The Writing: Leslie Rule is a brilliant writer and true crime storyteller. I loved the way she wrote this book and was captivated with her words.

As I said, I loved this book. It was a captivating story that was truly unbelievable and shocking. If you love true crime, read this book!

I won an ARC in exchange for a review.

This book was written by Leslie Rule, daughter of famed true crime author Ann Rule. I want to write this review the best i can without spoiling it, so please be patient with me.

This was quite the thrill ride. I normally speed through books, especially thrillers and crime books. But i struggled with this one. But I will totally read more from Leslie.

Cari Farver went missing, her mother worried about her, Dave her boyfriend becoming afraid of her.
Meanwhile another woman that was interested in Dave was also seeing starts receiving threats, burglary, and more.

I highly recommend this if you like true crime, or are a fan of Ann Rule.
This book will really keep you on the end of your seat.

This was my first book by the author, Leslie Rule, but I have read several of Ann Rule's (her mom) books. This was a thrilling, scary. page - turner of a book not only because of the mystery of the crime (although we knew pretty early on 'who-dunnit') but because of the use of technology to advance this crime and the subsequent harassment of friends and family.

Leslie Rule did a nice job laying out the players in the story and leading us up through the crime as it develops until it's final days in the courtroom. The killer is definitely a scary person and she controlled so many people before, during and after the crime! She is a monster and this story seems well researched and can be used as a cautionary tale for anyone involved online and on dating platforms!

An interesting look at a true sociopath and the damage inflicted with the, then new, tools of cyberbullying/stalking.

This book was by Ann Rule's daughter and she has her mother's talent for pulling you into a story. Warning, this has so many twists it would be a web for sure. Amazed at how many twists and turns an evil sick person can have. Highly would recommend if you want a true twisting story.

I had never heard of the Cari Farver case before picking up this book. It is one crazy ride. I think the book laid out the facts well and was an easy read, easy in that it was fast, not easy as in the subject matter. Some of the stuff that happened was so unbelievable that it could have been fiction instead of true crime. The writing was a bit cheesy at times with the seemingly oddly placed exclamation points, but that was usually when someone was being quoted so maybe they actually did talk that way. That was really my only issue with the book. I will definitely check out more true crime from Leslie Rule if she keeps writing it.
