I did not like this book. The FMC acted like a child except for the one scene where she actually fires a gun. I didn’t like Gerard’s nickname for her. Just wasn’t for me.

I feel bad about writing this review because I really didn’t like this. The characters were difficult to connect with. They all felt surface deep, and the FMC was probably the worst. Which is really rough for this sort of book.
The plot was secondary to the smut, which for the most part I’m typically fine with, but if you’re going to go that route the spice needs to be top-tier. It was not.
Lots of repetitive dialogue. Overall I feel like this could’ve been a fanfic.

This is a book where it is wildly important to pay attention to the content/trigger warnings; this book doesn't pull any punches.
Sovereign is a morally grey, hot as hell, darker, cowboy erotica with a strong BDSM dynamic. I feel like it's difficult to find a book like this without it being a mafia book. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

I was really hoping for more from this book. Even now, weeks after I've read it, I keep trying to gaslight myself into thinking it was better than it was. It had so much potential, but there was just something that didn't click. The FMC and the MMC just didn't have chemistry to me, and the promise of dark romance was only kind of met? Yes, he was stalkerish - without any real reason why - and a huge vendetta against FMC's husband, but even that felt kind of anti-climactic once you found out why. And that smut wasn't anything to really wow me. I don't know. I just expected more.
My FOMO and delulu keeps making me think I want to continue with this series, but I know that's probably going to be a decision I regret.

This is an erotica disguised as a dark romance. I didn’t hate it but I certainly didn’t love it. The spice overwhelmed the plot, and while I don’t mind taboo topics in books, this was a bit much, even for me. The characters fell flat and it felt like Insta love between the two main characters which isn’t necessarily my favourite.
To be honest, if this wasn’t my book club’s pick for October I probably wouldn’t have picked this book up. It’s worth noting that I listened to the audio. Overall that experience was fine, but I didn’t vibe with the male narrators voice for when the FMC spoke, so that unfortunately took away from my enjoyment of the book as well. I still had a good time, but I don’t think I’ll ever revisit this one.
Perfect for fans of BDSM and perhaps a mix of Fifty Shades meets Yellowstone as many before me have said.
