A very quick read with a lot of relatable themes. For a memoir, it just felt a bit sparse and rushed in places.

Also, the way people of color were drawn rubbed me the wrong way. Something felt really off about it.

I liked this because it was relatable and felt very honest.

Is it a queer experience to hide in a library? I'm not sure but perhaps so. I really enjoyed this graphic novel! I loved the illustrations and how they changed a little throughout the book. Everything just felt right whilst I was reading it and I cried and laughed and had a few existential crises but it made me enjoy this book that much more. I don't really know how to put it into words how much I enjoyed this book, I just did...and I may have given it a hug once I finished it too.

a sweet book with cute illustrations but smth abt the storytelling felt disjointed to me! like it was told chronologically, but the reflections felt a bit surface level to me? i just felt like there was a lot more to get into and unpack

I wished the word lesbian was used in this book (at least it’s not in the french version). But this book is still very relatable, I mean, I myself, discovered that I’m a lesbian only late in my life.
So yes, a good book, with light and beautiful drawings

 - THE TIMES I KNEW I WAS GAY is a graphic memoir that looks back over the author's life and begins to make sense of all the times she didn't seem to fit in with her straight peers.
- I think it's uniquely queer experience to look back at an event and think to yourself, "Oh! That felt so weird because I was trying to be someone I'm not!" And contrary to mainstream belief, not every queer person knew they were queer from the time they were a small child. This experience of reframing your whole life is totally real (me, it's my experience).
- I did wish we got a bit more from this book. It's so short and quick that a lot of it felt like a half formed thought, or only pieces of the story.
