This is my second time to read this novel. I love it as much as I did the first time.

I like the book, just not as much as the movie. In this case I feel like the movie actually had more detail and story line. Finn is barely mentioned in the book. The histories of the quilters are pretty much the same in the book and the movie from what I can remember anyway, which I liked. I haven't seen the movie in a long time though so I will definitely be watching it again soon to compare more.

I loved the way these woman's stories are presented. They each have unique and honest stories that drew me in. I would have put it as five stars but I couldn't help but draw comparisons between the book and the movie. While I am usually a fan of the book over the movie, I liked the way the movie had an ongoing storyline with Finn that helps connect the circle's stories. All in all, it was a good quick read that I would recommend to anyone.

I'm sure that Whitney Otto could have developed more diverse characters to reflect and represent American society fully. That being said, the individual stories are beautifully written and manages to ring very true.

Otto does an excellent job of telling the stories of several very different and unique women. Though they share things in common, none of the stories felt repetitive or overdone. Instead, their stories all wove together. Now if I could just find a quilting circle to join...

If I could I'd rate it a 3.5. A good quick book with interesting stories about women's lives and their view on marriage intertwined with making quilts. Just wasn't what I expected... May be the first book that I liked the movie better.

It is written in second-person singular which is unique. Definitely a patchwork of stories that more or less makes up a whole.

Really enjoyed this. I can definitely see how it would annoy some people; there's no real plot as such and it's written in a style that would drive lots of people crazy. But I guess I really liked the analogy of quilting to life and love and enjoyed the 'patchwork-y' nature of it. I liked learning more about the quilting group; what made them tick and their hidden selves that they didn't share with anybody. And I enjoyed the backdrop of american history as well, which I've always found interesting. I think I'll go back to this a lot and will find more in it each time, which is basically how I decide whether or not to give 4 or 5 stars.
