As with all short story collections and anthologies, some are better and resonate more than others. Some stand outs for me in this collection were"Tonsilstonepunksplatter666!" by Rain Corbyn, "Why We Keep Exploding" by Hailey Piper, "Lost in Reincarnation" by Devaki Devay, "Gender Envy" by Gabriel Valentine, "#MOTHERMAYHEM" by Jei D. Marcade, "The Simulacrum" by Max Turner, and "Tiny Magic" by G.E. Woods.

I enjoyed many stories within this anthology, such as High Maintenance, Why We Keep Exploding, The Divine Carcass, and The Simulacrum. These, among other stories in the collection, were able to bring forth many interesting anxieties in a fantastical way, which I really enjoyed. Despite this, as with every short story collection, there were some stories that fell flat for me and many that were simply fine. I think that if many of the stories were given more room to breath they would have been much more effective, but as they are not they brought up really interesting ideas and failed to really utilize them, especially for horror purposes. I think that many of the stories could have been cut in order to give their space to other stories. Overall, I really enjoyed the reading experience as a whole.

Deeply, deeply haunting book.
The vivid description of body horror really got me, often had to stop after my favorite stories since I was so freaked out that I needed a mental break.
I don't even know if I could crown one favorite from the assembled stories since they are all so different.
I know that the mental images and the intense feeling of unease from "Brother Maternitas" will continue to haunt me.
And I won't forget the brief moment of actual horror when some religious carol singers had the worst timing ever and started singing on my street while I was reading "Because my mother tells me so" about a "zombie" showing up at a person's home wanting to convert them.
Definitely wouldn't recommend reading singular stories without checking the content warnings first

Was für eine imposante Anthologie voller (für mich) neuer Stimmen, die mir wieder so viel Lust auf Weird Fiction und Weird Horror gemacht haben!

Es gibt einige Namen, bei denen ich in einer ruhigen Minuten schauen möchte, was sie noch veröffentlicht haben. Und ich möchte mir auch unbedingt die Anthologie noch als gedrucktes Exemplar kaufen, mittlerweile ist das auch abseits der Website möglich.

Vor allem "Why we keep exploding" wird noch lange in mir nachhallen, so großartig finde ich diese Geschichte!
