The first book needed to end at the first book. I am not sure if the TikTok demand was high for this book, but I don’t feel like the author wrote a well thought out plot.

Sadly, I found this was somewhat lacking. Light out was funny with elements of dark. Good character development along side a decent storyline. Caught up however felt quite one dimensional. Nico Jnr was a good character with personal growth, but Lauren was unlikeable. Her whole persona was pretty much just based on her liking kinks. Don’t get me wrong. I am all for kinks. But it was her entire identity. Everything else about her felt surface level with no depth. It was nice to have Ali and Josh back, but Tyler seemed to have been added in for the sake of it. Having the reveal he was trying to make his own enterprise doing shady stuff seemed just something to fit in for this book. The only description for him was to call him a douche, forgetting Josh previously stated what a great friend to him he was and made sure fans of true crime were not brought back to the house. Also, in Lights Out there was a conversation about how Josh tracks the whereabouts of those he cares about…so saying to Jnr Josh doesn’t know what he is up to doesn’t add up. I was hoping there was going to be some humour in this like in Lights Out as that set it apart from other books out there, but alas, there was not. I’m hoping the next instalment has a bit more depth to it.
