If the first half was condensed down to like 2-3 chapters it would have been a bit better. Very slow start, and not as good as Lights Out so I was a bit disappointed but the ending saved it. The moments where is was more than just Nick and Lauren were the best parts of the book. LOVE LOVE LOVE the sex and sex worker positivity!

Navessa Allen warned us it was going to be dirtier than Lights Out and she delivered. It was a smut fest lol. Junior was an intense red flagger and absolute perfection. Lauren had a lot more insecurities and faults than I really wanted. Maybe I missed most of Junior's faults because they didn't really seem like imperfections, and Lauren carried the bulk of the issues which made her feel like a more flawed character who was the main reason for any issues they had. I loved the brief drop ins from past characters. The audiobook was excellent duet narration! I absolutely loved the narrators.

The first half of this book started out really well, but I feel like it went a bit downhill from there. I had high expectations from Lights Out, but this book seemed to lack in a lot of places. There was definitely a lot less humorous elements, and honestly, I thought the plot was a little weak. After the halfway point, things just felt a little repetitive and as though they weren’t going anywhere.

I have to say I LOVED Junior, and I really enjoyed seeing more of the Mafia elements and Junior’s friendship with Josh. Unfortunately, I didn’t really care too much for Lauren’s plotline and couldn’t really connect with her.

Navessa Allen does a great job with inclusivity and representation. The diversity felt effortless, and it was nice to see such a vast array of characters in a book like this one.

The best thing about this book was Navessa's writing style. She does a great job at infusing every character and relationship with unique qualities. I didn't particularly love the plot of this book though. It absolutely revolves around Junior and Lauren's relationship, but the sprinkling in of all the side characters and side quests made it hard for me to be invested. It was easy to see the conflict coming from a mile off and had this been by any other author, I would have DNF (I really, really hate the miscommunication trope). The celebration of and respect for sex work was a pretty cool theme throughout.

Story moral: let people find their own happiness and consider yourself lucky if you're along for the ride.

“Learn from my mistakes. Be a slut while you still can.”

Going through this book thinking it would be like Lights Out was a mistake but I still did enjoy this - enough to have finished it within the day! Ironically, it was my Audible email that reminded me that this book is finally out so yes, I did it read it as soon as I saw that email. It just shows how excited I was to read this knowing that I pre-ordered this one back in December (half a year before the book came out).

I enjoyed it enough that there would be bits and pieces of the books that I would remember in the long run - exhibitionist, for example, since I've learned so much about this through this book. The mafia part of this book for me was a meh. Overall, it's a good book to remind me why I loved Lights Out (lol)
