Biggest let down of the year. I looked so much forward to this because I thought it would be another dark romcom. None of what made the previous book great is included in this one. The smut is dry, the chemistry between the mains non-existent. It doesn't even feel like this book is the same genre as the first one, this is just your average dark mafia romance.
I think this book might have done better if it was simply a standalone book set in the same universe rather than advertised as the second in a series. As with a series I expect the books to at least be in the same genre, this book has none of the dark romcom vibes of Lights Out.
On the positive side this book is very sex positive. Unfortunately I expected a laugh out loud book, and this book unfortunately did not deliver. I also did not enjoy how this book display people who are bi, or the lack of actual kink in the kink club (all the scenes were extremely vanilla, speaking as someone who's been frequenting "the scene").
The narrators were good, but as someone who lives in Ireland they could have saved themselves the borderline offensive Irish accent.
