I was so excited to have a book about Junior. He really intrigued me from his limited page time in Lights Out. Overall, I would say disappointed is the correct word for this book.
I was bored through most of the book. It really seemed to lack substance until about 250 pages in. To my dismay, both characters were repetitive and one dimensional. I pushed through with the constant hope that it would get better. There was little in the way of dark romance in this book, though the spice was taboo.
There was a scene where Junior is talking to Josh about how he's going to get away from his dad and the mob. They don't tell you the plan but Josh says something along the lines of he wants to be there to see the fall out. Then the big scene happens and it's just him talking to his dad at dinner. It was so lack luster.

The next book is Josh's best friend. I can't even remember his name so that just shows how uninterested I am in reading it. I will not be picking that one up and will probably declutter this one when I need shelf space.

I really enjoyed Junior’s story and his character development throughout. The spicy scenes were indeed spicy🌶️
I loved the dynamic between Lauren and her roommates!
I also really liked the involvement of Aly and Josh in this story. It was just enough of a callback and it didn’t overdo it.

I do love a good second chance romance.
I loved Junior, and I really liked Lauren.
I actually liked this a lot better then the first one, but don't @ me.
However, I thought she was kind of a hypocrite when she freaked out and stopped talking to him once he made a comment about her future career path, but his career was non-negotiable. Like, I'm glad that he was ready to leave that career, because she wasn't willing to budge.
She also wasn't willing to budge regarding her open intimacy and he had to get into her open lifestyle, but "thankfully" he was into it as well? Hard to believe, but I'm glad that worked for them. If I'm remembering correctly, she told him that she needs this, and that a relationship wouldn't work between them if he doesn't do it, too? Like I'm glad that you know what you want, but dang, give the dude a break.
I would've preferred more one-on-one intimacy, but I guess that's a me thing. I get that this book was about voyeurism, so just because that is a personal fear of mine doesn't mean it's a negative for this book.
Nonetheless, I found this an entertaining second-chance spicy read, and I adored Nico "Junior".

This was… a book. One of my most anticipated releases of the year, and sadly, one of my biggest disappointments.
Plot? Nonexistent. It felt like a few smut scenes loosely strung together. I absolutely loved the first book - the banter, the sarcasm, the shocking twists, and of course, the romance. But this time around? I felt nothing.
At first, I thought, “Okay, so it’s not going to be snarky - maybe it’s leaning into a spicy mafia romance vibe instead.” But nope. I can’t even call it that, because there was no plot.
That said, if you read solely for the vibes and the smut, you’ll probably love this book. But if you’re here for depth, tension, or anything beyond surface-level spice, it might fall flat.
