So good. The women's armor segment, the fantasy RPG jokes, EVERYTHING. I loved it.

Read Harder 2017: An all-ages comic
Graphic novels are not my forte. That said, I have found some quite enjoyable (e.g. Roller Girl). I liked Princeless Vol. 1, but to be honest the end was slightly overwhelming. There are so many plots colliding with one another. However, I am all for female empowerment and I appreciate that Adrienne shows skepticism about the standard fairy tale tropes.
I will probably check out Vol. 2 from the library, but it may not be on the top of my priority list.

Loved this! I wish they would publish a nice collected version of all the stories so that we don’t have to wade through all bound editions.
Great story about a princess who saves herself... feminist fairy tale comic! Will be a hit with all ages.

Extremely adorable! It reads towards the younger side of YA, but I would have loved this in middle school. Great story about girls learning to stand up for themselves and their beliefs. A bit didactic, but at least the lessons were good.

This was so much fun. I would love to see this made into a movie! I love the twist on fairy tale tropes. Adrienne and Sparky and Bedelia are amazing. I love the bits played out back at the castle, as well. Super curious to see where the story goes.
teeheehee :) Okay, so that was not even remotely subtle, but given the continued sexism inherent in so many comics and fairy tales (and the gross misogyny continuously heaped upon female readers of comics), I didn't feel that the lack of subtlety was a weakness. In fact, I fucking loved it. Let's continue to take the hammer of "why the fucking isn't this obvious to you yet quit being sexist?!" and beat people about the head with it. The scene in which our intrepid heroine goes to buy armor and is presented with chain mail bikinis, hot shorts, and leather mini skirts is priceless.
Kind of upset to see this story was so hollow in heart, and so boring in ideas. The characters seem to be caricatures, and the few real human moments fall flat because those moments are quickly undercut. It's nice as an empowerment fantasy kind of affair, but sadly doesn't offer much beyond that. I will give the second volume a look, but some serious changes will need to take place for this series to have new, interesting, or very powerful things to say.
