Think this might be my favorite thus far. Karson is the ultimate book boyfriend! Lacey is ok...at times the reader loves her and empathizes with her but at other times she’s such a simpering, naive wimp that you want to slap her. The storyline is different and holds your interest.

Mt big gripe? The timing is off. In the last book Karson tells Phillip about the love he lost nine years ago. When this book starts it is nine years since Karson lost Lacey. And yet somehow with little to no time passing Piper has a second kid, Reese has a kid, Claire is engaged and has been in college for two years and is running a burlesque show in Vegas. WTF? I double checked the book order on the website and that’s also wrong as it says the Bellevue series should be read between some future books when clearly book one, which is about Claire, should be read after Reese and Phillip’s book. Since I’m pretty OCD about reading series in order and not missing out on storylines this was really irritating as I read this book.

I'm a huge fan of Toni Aleo and was super lucky to be provided an ARC of Laces and Lace with the promise of an honest review. I loved when we first met Lacey and Karson in the prequel Tangled in the Laces and love it was included in the beginning of Laces and Lace so new readers could read all of Lacey and Karson's story at once. Add in $1.00 from each purchase going to the Nashville Predators Foundation, and everyone wins!

Toni Aleo pulled me in from the very first page. Karson and Lacey fell in love nine years ago and while they have been apart all those years, neither has ever loved anyone else the same way. Lacey and Karson are soul mates and only have been apart because of threats and fears. When Lacey and Karson saw each other again for the first time I cheered and cried at the same time. It was seriously the first time either had been really happy in 9 years. The connection between them was like they had never been apart and the chemistry was off the charts hot.

I loved that once Karson and Lacey were together again, they didn't want to be apart. I felt that both Karson and Lacey were really strong characters, yet felt like Lacey had way more insecurities than Karson. I felt like much of her insecurities came from her family smothering her following her diagnosis with breast cancer, but she still frustrated me at times. She seemed to let outside influences sway her thoughts, yet I knew she loved Karson with all her heart. I think Lacey's character grew more during this book than any other.

I loved we got to spend time with so many of my favorite couples from the previous Assassins' books. I honestly feel like while the characters all have families, the team also becomes the second family and plays a very important roll in their lives. One of the characters I can't say I loved at the beginning, but did by the end was JT (Jordie), who is Karson's best friend. He actually seemed like a bit of a tool in the beginning of the book, but now I want his story. Spending time with Karson's family was an absolute delight and made me laugh so much while they interacted. As much as I loved time with Karson's family, I absolutely hated the dysfunction that came with dealing with Lacey's family. I really don't know that I've ever hated a character in a book as much as I hated one character in this book. I felt like while it was not an easy road for Karson and Lacey, they only became stronger as a couple and as individuals because of all the challenges they faced together.

While Elli and Shea are still my favorite couple and their book will always be my favorite in the series, I absolutely loved Lacey and Karson's story. Laces and Lace is an absolutely beautiful, sexy and emotional romance.
