I really enjoyed Wren from the original series and was glad to get her story here and see her come into her own. Her change from the original series, to the start of this book, to the end of this book was great development. I appreciated getting more of her thoughts and seeing her have something of her own.

Torj was great, as always. You know what you're getting with him in this.

The plot was pretty good and i appreciated the pace.

That…..that was not what I expected ⚔️🩸🧪

I’m……I’m not okie. That ending….I don’t think I’ve read an ending like that and I’m empty.

*********READ LEGENDS OF THEZMARR FIRST********

This book is OUTSTANDING but you should definitely read Legends of Thezmarr first to get the full depth and spectrum of the characters, war, and relationships and why they are where they are.

There’s little I feel like I could say to not spoil the book, just know I’m obsessed with this whole cast of characters, the depth and range of the world and magic, the pacing, the development, the setting, everything was just perfect!

10/10 recommend!

Helen is my favorite author so I knew I was going to love this book, and wow, I was not disappointed! It was wonderful to be back in the Thezmarr world again.

I loved Wren and Torj's story so much! Wren is such a relatable FMC, and I adored that her strength is of a different kind than we saw with her sister Thea in Legends of Thezmarr. Where Thea is swords ablazing, Wren has a subtler approach that was so fun to read about.

The romance is soooo good, and the world building and character development are spot on.

While you don't need to read Legends of Thezmarr to enjoy this series, I highly recommend it. You will love them all!!

I loved everything about this!
It has everything i want in a romantasy and i loved the writing and the world that the author created.
Being someone who hasnt read her original series set in this world, i do think that if you read that series first then there would be a whole new level of impact. Despite that i hadnt, i DEVOURED this and will be going back to read everything else she has ever written!

A solid beginning to a sequel series! The relationship between Wren and Torj feels far more complex than the one between Thea and Wilder in the original series, making this truly feel like a growing and evolving world. The academy is a fascinating setting and I appreciated the mix of new and old characters blending together. Definitely keeping an eye out for the next one!
