‘I’ve made no secret of what I want, it’s you. It’s always been you.’
Iron & embers is a spin off from the legends of Thezmarr focusing on two specific characters from the main story line, and honestly I thought it couldn’t hold a torch to the original story line, but it’s just as amazing.
Admittedly slow to start because it’s set on academy grounds this time, but the slooooow burn.. had me on the edge of my damn seat.. not to mention the ending?! What a hanger of a cliffy to leave me teetering on the edge of for literally months Helen.. but it’s okay. I forgive you.. because these characters are EVERYTHING ♥️
Highly recommend reading the legends of thezmarr series FIRST, before starting this one, although there is enough back story in this, if you choose otherwise.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the ALC.
I got 20% in and ended up DNF’ing. The narrator was good and it was an interesting story idea, but I clearly needed to read the series prior to this. I wish it had been made more apparent that this was a spin off.
In the beginning there was a brief “history” given that made me realize that this was probably the case, but I was hoping that would be enough to get into this series.
Unfortunately for me, it just wasn’t. I’m interested in the story and may try and go read the first series and come back to this.

I liked the plot overall, but this suffers the same issue as a lot of romantacy, constant repetitive scenes. Also, the male character repeatedly disregards the FMC’s right to make choices for herself. Is it really that hard for authors to write romantacy that isn’t repetitive and with MMCs that treat the FMCs as actual adults?
