As much as I do think this was a solid end to this series, a lot of the dialogue felt very cheesy to me. I feel like we’ve gotten so much better out of Crouch in his other books, this one read like a young adult novel at times.

Regardless, I do still love this series, I’m sad it’s over, and I hope one day we actually get a good tv or movie adaptation.

It was a frustrating ending to the series.

<Spoiler>I absolutely believe Pilcher would rather burn everything down than admit that he hadn't accounted for everything and now everyone will starve.

I didn't really buy that Ethan would necessarily chose his wife over Kate.  We just don't see enough of them together having a meaningful connection.  Similarly, I don't really buy that Kate would necessary choose her husband over Adam, although there I guess we see a lot of what Adam feels for her and not as much about what she feels for him, so maybe that's a little more believable.

The ambiguous ending was frustrating.  There's no reason to believe the Earth will be more hospitable (or even at all still hospitable) to modern human life in 70,000 years.   And were they set to wake up at a certain time?  We really have no reason at all to believe they'd be in a better position when they wake up.

I read all three books in the Wayward Pines series, about 900 pages, in two days. The pages seemed to turn themselves and though there was science-fiction elements the book stays firmly rooted in thriller. For example, no explanations are given on suspended animation or theories of evolution, which would have slowed the action.
A real page turner, this book has the best ending of the three in the series. I was reluctant to give it five stars as it's a thriller and not "proper literature" but I'm going to anyway.
