Unnecessarily long. It talks a lot about writing but teaches very little in the practical sense. This feels like a non writer's attempt at teaching writing which ultimately just becomes a compilation of famous novel namedrops.

Clear lectures with many quality examples! I listened to this on my walks to work in October as inspiration for NaMoWriMo. While I “knew” some of this already, every lecture refreshed my vision and commitment to the art of fiction. Whether you are new to fiction or you’ve been at it a while, this lecture series is worth a listen.

I must say this course is not for the ones who have just started to learn the art of writing. But when you're already familiar with basics, then it covers a good amount of all the other things. It does give some insight that I have not read/heard from some other authors and Hynes definitely knows what he's talking about.

I really do plan to become a published writer/author one day. I found this very helpful. I'd like to go back and listen to the lectures again as if I was actually taking the class. I'd like to read the referenced reading material and do the writing projects. They seem like they will be a lot of fun. I feel more confident about writing because of this. I'm tempted to recommend it to a lot of people. Not because their writing is bad, but because I feel they could use the confidence too. Fully recommend this for writers!
