“The Metamorphosis” is a quick read, though not necessarily an entertaining one. It is filled with analogies—analogies I only fully grasped after reading a later analysis.

It is not only Gregor who turns into an insect, but the entire family that undergoes a metamorphosis. Gregor was already an insect of society, living by and for work, already dehumanized. The story also offers a strong reading of illness or of being different: it begins with care and kindness, only to shift into rejection and fatigue. It is unsettling and requires further analysis, otherwise you are left with empty words.

Any story that can bring a tear to my eye on the U2 is worth every one of those 5 stars.
