So I've been trying to process what is up with this book. Things to know, this started out as semi-horrific (there's a brutal rape scene within the first chapter that needs to be skipped past quickly, or at least I did), it's rather absurd and hilarious at times, which is why I kept reading it, even though it definitely gave me all of the ick. But then, issues started coming up the further I progressed. Yes, I continued out of morbid curiosity, like a train hurtling towards a tragic ending, I just could not look away or stop. And then there was a tonal shift around the second half of the book. Much like Gabbie from GabbieReads said in her youtube review, the book goes from not so serious and outrageous, to suddenly trying to take itself seriously, which made the logic side (that I had turned off just so I could enjoy as much as I could the weirdness that is this book) turn back on. And once it turned on, oh, I had some serious issues! First of all, the whole caveman gender bullshit where women are supposed to be demure, unable to save themselves and just have to take it. The book is aware of it, considering in the last couple of pages, the characters mention that they're basically going to become barefoot and pregnant now that they are stuck with these alien Jurasic Park creatures (that look like Loki Laufeyson in his ice giant form, but with more horns and pokey bits, and their nether regions turned into a monster horse sex toy) *shudders and tries to not puke* Logically, I cannot understand why the characters stayed when they had a way to go back to earth, even if it was a long shot and....
SPOILERS AHEAD SO AVERT YOUR EYES
....that they had to inject this parasite, which the whole scene was a horror novel in itself, just to stay on the planet instead of going on the space ship back to earth. Also I'm not a fan of pregnancy. It is a horrific condition to me that I could never go through, and if anyone is tokophobic like me, this is definitely the series to stay away! Pregnancy breeding kinks and having human women (who are abducted so as to be come trafficked sex slaves for other aliens) who willingly put themselves in this situation does not go well with me. When the FMC says that she's so glad she doesn't have to worry about birth control, that's when I knew this was not for me. Has she never seen Twilight?! (which is what Gabbe said) And she is not "in love" with this alien monster cock dude when she has only known him for 5 or 6 days! That's lust honey! That's not love! I also did not understand why all of the other women who were human cargo are now fine with being broodmares for these alien dudes who are getting semi close to extinction (there are only 4 or 5 females and like 20 something dudes). Even if they're in another solar system, you'd think they'd fight to go back to what they know when the planet they're on his hostile to them, so much so that they need this parasite inserted into them to filter the toxins in the air. Like they have 8 days before they die from the toxin buildup shutting down their bodies and these women are fine putting this huge creepy ass parasitic worm in a gash through their necks to remain as the broodmares for these monster creatures??!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!!! Oh honey no! Hell no! I would have yeeted myself so fast into space if it was death or doing that to become a breeding horse for them. *gags* Nope. nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope. Least to say, I don't think my stomach or my brain could handle continuing this series. It was semi fun and outrageous while it lasted, but I'm getting off this ride for now. It's a tad too Stockholm syndrome-y for me and I cannot stomach anymore of it.

I was not onboard with the forced abortion and rape at the beginning of the book. I also didn't like the way the author was constantly trying to be funny, it would throw the rhythm of the scene off. It just wasn't for me I guess.

it is 1:19am and i have just finished my first alien smut novel, give me 8 hours of sleep to collect my thoughts.

OKAY! so! im glad she took out the non-con scene for the special edition but we have to address the dub-con. i genuinely don’t believe someone who has just been caught in a literal hunting snare after being kidnapped from her own bed, being forced to witness many scenes of sexual assault, and then murdering one of the living beings that violated them would react the way geogie did when she wakes up to some unknown huge blue alien eating her out.

i get that sexual pleasure can be intense, more so for others, but to disregard all the non consensual stuff she’s been through and seen in a short amount of time just to get it on with the first person who is nice to her? something about that just gives me the ick.

also, all the violence against women specifically made me so uncomfortable. i had an idea of it after reading the synopsis of the story but it definitely didn’t give me the full picture as actually reading the story did.

as the story goes on, yes i see that vektal does actually care about georgie and their language barrier does keep them from communicating the finer points of their conversations and arguments but the way he described the mate bond between them screams of sexism and misgony. in a way, it feels like the author was trying so hard to not exhibit those ideals and ended up circling back to them anyway.

plot was there but definitely not the main focus. the writing style was a little too ya for the adult book it is so i didnt particularly enjoy that. its not bad, but it definitely needs a lot of work.

the sex scenes were a delight once you got past the dubious consent elements and simply for that, i give this 3 stars

Okay spice but I really could not get past the plot. I'm sure that you can like it if you can get past that

tik tok made me do this and man was it weird but I would be lying if I said i wasn't entertained. 2.5/5 for overall quality, but a solid 4.5/5 for entertainment. This book is good in the same way the movie sharknado is good. if you don't take it too seriously you'll have a great time
