I'm so pleased with this book! If you've read my reviews on other books in this series, you know I didn't have the best feelings about Ben. I wanted him to find peace and a future and redeem himself, but I didn't know if it would ever actually happen. But now I can report with absolute certainty, that my feelings for Ben have changed. He found a way out of the dark in this book and while he won't be making any of my favorite book boyfriend lists anytime soon, I can he's redeemed himself in my eyes.

Sometimes it really is all about finding the right person. That couldn't be more true than it is with Ben and Bell. The passion he lacked with Dahlia was present in spades with Bell. They were perfectly matched – in and out of the bedroom – and I really enjoyed their story. Granted, I still take issue with him for cheating on Dahlia back when this all started, but I think I can look past it now. Regardless of how long they'd been together, they weren't right together. There was someone better out there for each of them.

Ben began his path to redemption at the end of Blurred. He made a series of bad decisions over the past several years and he lost a lot over that same period of time. I did sympathize with him for all that he'd lost, but it didn't excuse away the behavior. I was getting a little tired of looking backward with Ben and I'm happy to say this book didn't have much of that. It was more about the future, save for a few flashbacks from Bell's POV, which didn't bother me at all. I liked Bell from the start. I wasn't pleased to learn of her history with Ben at first, but again, forgive and forget... right?

Frayed really was about Ben and Bell dealing with their past and moving on together and finding a better future. There wasn't a doubt in my mind, before or during this book, that they belonged together and would get there. Together Ben and Bell confronted the ghosts of their pasts and realized what they had, no matter how hard they tried to fight it, was something special. They were smoking hot together. The sexy scenes were SUPER steamy and the romance was heart-melting. They were easy to root for. Ben atoned. It was time he got a happily ever after.

The other thing I really liked about Frayed was that it gave me a chance to catch up on the lives of the other characters in this series. I loved each of them in one way or another and it was gratifying to learn where they are now.

I can't believe I'm saying this, given my feelings for Ben at the beginning of this book, but I have to say this is one of my favorite books in the entire series. I loved the character development and the pairing of Ben and Bell. They gave me the warm fuzzies and often had me fanning myself from the passion. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a second chance story. I'm very happy with this book and I suspect other fans of this series will be as well.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

After reading the other books in the Connections series, I wasn't too sure if I could get behind Ben. I actually ended up wondering if the reason I changed my mind was because he rekindled his connection with Bell and not a brand new character. As if that makes up for past situations and somehow makes things okay. Which it shouldn't. But that bugged me. The whole "It was Bell(not Dahlia) all along" vibe the book had going still gave me the impression that Ben was a little shady.

I will admit that going into Frayed by Kim Karr I was really skeptical of the story. I knew it would be a tough sell because of all the history between Ben and Bell and the rest of the characters. I am a huge fan of this series, but I have been anxious about this book as well as dreading the day it came out. While I will say that this book surprised me in a lot of ways, I will also say that it was my least favorite of the series besides Ben's novella Blurred.

After Ben had to disappear for getting involved in a dangerous story, he came back only to discover that his fiance Dahlia had moved on and was no longer in love with him. Ben then lost his beloved mother and hit rock bottom. He took off for Australia to get his life back on track and now he has returned home where he belongs. He is focused on his work and moving forward with his life, having finally accepted the changes that have occurred. But after a chance run-in with his past, Ben finds himself feeling something he hasn't ever felt before. Ben has always been drawn to Bell and there has never been any denying that they have a ton of sexual chemistry between them. But as Ben and Bell get to know one another better, they find a connection unlike any they have felt before. But Bell has a secret from her past that could destroy everything between them.

I have never been Ben's biggest fan. He was cocky and self-centered, and he seemed to feel as though he deserved everything regardless of his actions. I really hated what he did to Dahlia, and that was why I was so worried going into this book. I felt like him having a relationship with Bell was justifying what the two of them had done in the past, and I really don't feel as if their actions were justified at all. They made some huge mistakes and errors in judgement, and I feel like this book really sort of said that it was okay because everything worked out in the end. I felt like their relationship was tainted from the start, and as well as these two fit together I just couldn't get past how things started between them. Ben made a lot of progress as an individual though, and I really enjoyed seeing his growth. Bell was sweet and strong, and so much more than people gave her credit for. But I also felt like she played the victim a bit, and a lot of what had happened was because of how relentlessly she had pursued Ben all those years ago even knowing that he had a girlfriend. It was hard for me to ever connect with her or feel sorry for her after that, because to me that is the worst type of girl. It is one thing when you don't know they are taken, but to know and force the issue just makes you a selfish bitch in my book. She only thought of what she wanted and took it regardless of how it affected anyone but herself.

All that being said, it was obvious that Ben and Bell had a connection and a lot of chemistry. I felt like these two made a great couple and that they would have been a perfect match had it not been for their past and history. I wish that their circumstances would have been different, because I really would have loved them together if it had not been such a horrible start. I just couldn't get behind these two no matter how well the fit together and how great a job Kim Karr wrote the story. I thought that Veronica Meunch and Christian Fox did a fantastic job narrating these characters as they have done with the entire series so far. They are the perfect choice for this series, and they really bring the characters to life. They are always easy to understand and manage to convey every feeling and emotion of the story. They also do a great job of differentiating between characters, making it easy to always tell who is speaking. But despite their amazing performance and Kim Karr's great writing, this really was just a matter of the story for me. I wanted to have my mind changed, but I just wasn't able to move past what had happened. I really do love this series though, and I am looking forward to the next installment in this series.

I have to say, after the firs two books in this series, I really didn't want Ben to get his HEA. I mean after all the things with Dahlia, he was on my shit list.

But Frayed changed that, I found myself hoping that Ben and Bell got their act together and really made something of their attraction. because hers the sparks between these two could ignite wet wood.

I was happy with the way this story played out. was glad that it was not easy for their relationship to form and evolve.

"Ben Covington hasn't seriously dated anyone since losing his fiancée until now. After spending one night with Bell Wilde, he can't forget about her. For Bell, she isn't looking for anything serious, especially not from someone who is part of her past. As they try and fail to stay apart, the past may be the one thing that stops them from being together once and for all." Full review at Fresh Fiction: http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=49464

‘What I feel when I look at her winds me. It’s more than just lust and desire–it’s a need to make her a part of me.’

Ahhhhh…finally. Frayed is the full-length novel where infamous Ben Covington gets his life together. If you’ve been following the Connections series, this is bound to bring out some strong emotions, be it good or bad, depending upon your feelings about Ben.

I really didn’t want to like Ben at all. After what he revealed to Dahlia and his family in previous novels I was not inclined to hear his side of the story.
