the end brought it down slightly but concluding a story that’s this intricate and epic is a tall order. i thought this book was fantastic and really went into a lot of complex themes of family, power, and revenge. the writing was so poignant and crisp which i love to see. i also loved getting to see a different perspective of the trojan war and seeing how everything fit together. i especially loved the bits with penelope and odysseus… like hey! overall this book was so up my alley and i’m so excited to read this authors other books.

Greek mythology retelling full of revenge and feminine rage: this was right up my alley. The prose is beautiful and the storytelling was done so well, it does not read like a debut novel. I had some gripes with it, especially being labeled as a “feminist retelling,” but overall this is my cup of tea so I really enjoyed it. I never really knew Clytemnestra’s story, but knew of those surrounding her so it was a fresh take on the mythology for me personally.
