Somewhat compelling, in a breathless way. Policeman is accused of tampering the evidence to get a conviction on a guilty killer. Solves case while suspended, with the aid of his daughter the journalist.

Το δεύτερο βιβλίο του συγγραφέα στα ελληνικά (αν και το όγδοο της σειράς) με ήρωα τον αστυνομικό Βίλιαμ Βίστιν.
Μπορώ να πω ότι η υπόθεση, η πλοκή και η εξέλιξή της μου άρεσε περισσότερο από το προηγούμενο ([b:Έγκλημα στα φιόρδ|32604637|Έγκλημα στα φιόρδ|Jørn Lier Horst|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1476391682s/32604637.jpg|18003165]). Δεν θέλω να πω κάτι για την υπόθεση καθώς στα αστυνομικά είναι εύκολο να γίνει spoiler έστω και άθελά μας. Το μόνο που θα πω είναι ότι ο συγγραφέας δίνει στον αναγνώστη αρκετά κομμάτια του παζλ ώστε να διασκεδάσει διαμορφώνοντας στο μυαλό του υποθέσεις για τους ενόχους και τα γεγονότα χωρίς να υποτιμά τη νοημοσύνη του.
Η γραφή στρωτή και σαφής (υποθέττω έχει γίνει καλή δουλειά στη μετάφραση), το βιβλίο κυλά εύκολα και ευχάριστα ενώ κλασσικά ο ρυθμός επιταχύνεται προς το τέλος. Αν σας αρέσουν τα κλασσικά αστυνομικά (αυτά που δεν περιστρέφονται γύρω από τα ψυχολογικά προβλήματα του κεντρικού ήρωα) στη σύγχρονη εποχή, αξίζει να το έχετε υπόψιν σας!

My first book by this author, and enjoyable, with both a 17-year-old disappearance and murder of a young woman, for which Wisting, the protagonist, is being investigated in connection with apparently fabricated evidence, and a recent one - or at least a disappearance - that seems very similar. His daughter, Line (pronounced like Lena but since I listened to the book on audio, I got that spelling from other reviews), is a journalist who finds herself covering another, apparently unconnected murder, but as often happens in these books, they find the two cases dovetailing.
I liked Wisting and found the mystery interesting, but at least at the beginning Line really got on my nerves, coming across as both arrogant (withholding evidence from the police) and reckless - going to a murder victim's home alone and running smack dab into the killer. However, I suppose those qualities came in handy when she was helping her father in his attempts to clear his name. It didn't help that, while for the most part I enjoyed the narration, this narrator was one who seemed to believe that women don't have vocal cords, and all of his women (not that many in the book, actually), had virtually identical, annoyingly breathy voices.

The Hunting Dogs is the second William Wisting mystery that I’ve read and boy oh boy, Jorn Lier Horst does not disappoint. This is a clear 4.5 stars for me which I’ve rounded up as opposed to down. It’s a methodical and logical procedural thriller that doesn’t just get bogged down in detail. The character development is secondary in a way but at the same time complements the story and adds context and depth to the plot line.
What I like about William Wisting is his genuineness and authenticity. He’s not caught up with himself and his own importance and is clearly still grieving and bordering on depressed without this being fore-fronted. He’s a leader but doesn’t need to announce it.

A stronger storyline in this one. A past case is reopened and Wisting is suspended while he investigate.

Suspendu de ses fonction, il décide de replonger dans la dite enquête mais avec un regard nouveau.
Parallèlement, sa fille Line, journaliste criminelle, se lance dans une nouvelle enquête cherchant un scoop qui éviterait à son père le scandale médiatique qui le menace.
L'intrigue est bien ficelée, les personnages sont très réalistes, plein de rebondissements, le passage du passé au présent et vice-versa est fluide, des enquêtes qui s'entrecroisent et on est en face d'un bon roman noir où pas beaucoup de sang est déversé mais qui vous tient en haleine jusqu'à la fin.
