I love love love the artwork in this series. I hadn't realized this was the third one but I still enjoyed it even if I missed some parts.

Meh. I expected more from Gail Simone.

A great collection of stories, well drawn! Easy to pick up for someone who had not read much WW before, and left me wanting to read more.

Yep, I definitely need to look up more stuff by Simone. I loved The Circle; it hit all the right buttons for me.

It was a relief to find something set in the same universe as Love and Murder but WITHOUT Diana the Human acting like a child or someone who had been trapped in an underground bunker for decades.

Wonder Woman the Warrior kicks ass in here, of course. I enjoyed reading her origin story since I didn't know much about Diana's birth or the Amazons or any of that yet.

Could have done without the romance but I guess it could have been worse. I just don't buy it and, honestly, it's an annoying diversion from the more interesting parts of Wonder Woman's story.

There are two storylines collected in The Circle: "The Circle" and "Ex-Patriate." I preferred the former, with all its mythology and the gorgeous art (mostly by the Dodsons), but the second shorter storyline wasn't bad, either. It is weird going from one to the next, though. They feel like they belong in different books.

"Ex-Patriate" starts off with more of that irritating romance but after a while, it gets better. The change in art style was jarring (the art in issues 18 and 19 is more cartoonish than the previous issues in this volume) but after I warmed up to it, the story, with its aliens and funny statues and pop-culture references, felt like a nice fluffy capper to the more serious story told in the first part of the book.

Where's my bloody Wonder Woman movie? If you read this comic you know it's perfectly possible to make one.

A trip to the local Comic-Con and a haul of DC Graphic Novel Collection books, starting with this Wonder Woman collection from 2008. Fantastic artwork, combined with a decent plot that blends the mythic origin with a modern tale. Good stuff.
