I stopped reading 12% of the way in. There wasn't much to keep me reading. It is a slow-moving story about a brain surgeon with two kids. The book is supposed to be about one day in his life.

I stopped at 4am in the story, when I had read for nearly an hour and nothing had actually happened. Many of the other reviews say that nothing really happens throughout the book.

a beautifully written account of a day in one man's life- i found myself writing down quotes from the book as i read since the writing itself is so wonderful

Atonement is one of my all time favorites- and I really enjoyed The Children Act, McEwan's most recent novel..but this book was such a disappointment! Snooze-fest.

Never finished it --

This book lost me at a 10-page description of a squash game. What a snoozefest.
