Such a disappointing read. The story wasn’t very gripping, none of the characters were interesting, and the reveal was lacklustre.
I was worried it would turn into a “they all killed her together” thing, but instead they only played at that and it was really a completely different person. Anita had such a boring motive. All of them did, really.

The Couple at the Table by Sophie Hannah ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📚 I recommend this if you love: a light, twisty murder, unreliable narrator and a closed circle of suspects!
🤔After reading "haven't they grown" by Sophie Hannah and loving it, I picked up this book to read! It started out slow paced but soon picked up, and I was saying "wait, what?" multiple times!
📖 6 couples visit a luxury retreat, hoping for a relaxing holiday, until Jane storms off during dinner and is found dead. Everyone is suddenly a suspect despite having solid alibis! The investigation runs cold, and Lucy, the ex-wife of Janes now widowed husband, wants answers and takes matters into her own hands to reopen the investigation. The question is, will they ever find out who killed Jane?
💭I love books with multiple povs, especially with a closed circle of suspects, it's great to see their individual perspectives! This was further helped with an unreliable narrator, leaving me guessing whodunnit until the end! It also followed a dual timeline with this changing to pre and post murder each chapter.
However, I didn't enjoy some chapters as they had multiple povs in them, which made it a bit confusing to follow at times! The ending was also quite rushed, and the final chapter left me a bit confused.
Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller
Book Format: Physical
Number of Pages: 388
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Series or Standalone: Standalone
Tropes & Themes: vacation gone wrong, closed circle of suspects, dual timeline, whodunnit, police procedural, betrayal, obsession, plot twist, unreliable narrator
