Derrick has been suffering a long time with pain. When he hears from a good friend about a treatment to help, he decides to do it no matter the cost.

I didn't feel as if this was really horror. May have been more interesting if it was longer.

This was not what I was expecting. The ending was a bit much for me, and it felt more psychological thriller than real horror - I couldn't really see this as fitting the idea of something in the shadows - but it was an interesting short read. It definitely would have seemed weaker if it was any longer, and it lacked a bit of explanation about the early sessions of the remedy. The final reveal didn't really explain enough for me. But the writing was well done and easy to listen to.

What in the world did I just listen to? Thank heavens it was short. I actually liked the writing and I was into it.. and then that ending. As someone with chronic pain...that was just...crappy. Like...I'm kind of offended and not in a good thought provoking way. I dont want to ruin it. If you want to read it or listen to it (it's free on audible plus)...its short and quick. Plus side...the narrator was good and as I said...I actually enjoyed the writing and was into it until that ending. Like...wtf?

He sat down on the uncomfortable plastic chair and waited for his name to be called. The room was sterile, cold, anything but welcoming. His body ached and his head throbbed; he debated leaving, but he needed answers… a cure. A woman called his name and he stood up to follow her, but when he stepped on the other side of the door she emerged from he was hit with something he didn’t expect.

The Remedy is a story about a man who has been searching for medical answers to explain his body’s failure. He finds a place that is very unconventional, but promises results, and he jumps at the opportunity.

I have to say, the writing in this short story was so good. I was completely drawn in by the words… but the story itself was boring to me. There was no element of horror at all in my opinion, and I really wanted something more. This author’s writing was compelling though, so I’d definitely read more of his work. This story just wasn’t a winner for me.

I knew when I was reading this that it wasn't as uplifting as it was appearing to be. It's a horror story. I'm hopeful, but I am not stupid. I was very disappointed in the story. There wasn't a lot of build up and no climax to the story at all. It just kind of went along.

My honest judgment is that this would have been a better story if there had been more build up to the point of the story and more creepy parts. It's still an enjoyable read and I do fully recommend it.
